Think you’re going to strike it rich in Las Vegas?

Think again! Though it’s true that some will walk away a couple of hundred dollars up, most walk away in the red. Want to make the most of your Vegas time without losing all of your hard-earned savings? Here are some things to keep in mind when visiting Las Vegas.

1. Everyone Wants Your Money: Las Vegas is a city of ca-ching-ca-ching. That’s not to say you can’t make some money in Las Vegas–but you should understand that this city is absolutely designed to give you chances to spend money at every turn.

2. Spend Smart: Everything costs money, but there are awesome ways to save money as well. Treat yourself to a buffet dinner or purchase a buffet pass for $55 that includes 24-hours of buffets in five different casinos. Ride the public buses, or just walk–the strip isn’t that long.

3. Gamble Smarter: Thinking about gambling? Hate to break it to you, but you probably have better chances with online travel bingo. Gambling in Las Vegas is big business. Want to test your luck? Avoid the slot machines, and try your luck with blackjack or other card games.

4. Cut Yourself Off: This is the most important rule of Las Vegas: SET YOURSELF A LIMIT AND STICK TO IT. Seriously. If you can afford to lose $60 and you do… walk away! Don’t double down and try to win it back. Just. Walk. Away.

5. While You’re Here, Indulge: If you’re traveling to Las Vegas, chances are you’re coming with more than $30 in your pocket. Go ahead, indulge! Get yourself a massage, spend the day in the hotel spa, or just plan on lounging by the pool all day, drinks in hand. This is what it’s all about!

What do you think about Las Vegas?
